Welcome
The 2025 UEA Scriptwriting MA public workshop is taking place on 17/18 June at the Garage in Norwich. Find out more
We are delighted to invite you to the annual Public Workshops to celebrate the work of our 2025 MA Scriptwriting students at the University of East Anglia.
On our programme, we nurture new scriptwriting talent from the UK and around the world, and this exciting event is your chance to meet a new generation of scriptwriters, hear their voices and network with them. These workshops will showcase extracts from the students’ innovative and imaginative scripts for audio, TV, film and theatre.
We're very proud of our students' work and this year is no exception. Our students come from all over - Portugal, China, Iceland, the Netherlands, Australia and Spain - but are also a cross-section of exciting new talent from across this country. They range in age from 22 to 67, but what they share are stories which show the complexities of living now in a turbulent world. I can guarantee high drama and low comedy, formal experimentation and genre pleasures.
With actors drawn from our extended drama community, talented new directors and scripts on which the ink is barely dry, our Public Workshop offers you a taste of the next generation of writing talent.
The Public Workshops run from 11am-4pm on Tuesday June 17th and Wednesday June 18th at the Garage Theatre in Norwich. Lunch is provided on both days.
This year, we have a day dedicated to works for the stage and audio on Tuesday and a day of writing for the small and big screen on Wednesday). However, our stage and audio writers are often also screenwriters, and our screenwriters are often also stage and audio writers, so we hope attendance on either day will be rewarding whatever your interest.
Sharing work in progress is a key part of the development of our students’ scripts and skills as emerging writers in the creative industry, and we value your participation, time and feedback.
Get your tickets for both days here.
